Guillermo Conte
Guillermo Conte creates atmospheres in his canvases through the use
of unique textures. His work always speaks of things past and achieves
the illusion of objects that have lived before even if his brush strokes
are quite contemporary.
His work is never shy about appealing to beauty for its sake, and making
use of its symbols, even common ones such as flowers, to evoke a time
of olden, past, but present through memory's evocative power, relying
on the poetic and the subtle to convey his themes of mysterious and moving
remembrance.
Guillermo Conte has has solo exhibitions in Rome, Madrid, Bogota, New
York, San Jose of Costa Rica, Panama, Mexico City, Caracas and Lima, as
well as numerous group shows around the globe. His first international
art auction was in Christie's in 1994.
