Karina Chechik (1966)

The artist is very connected to her homeland of Argentina in her work. Literature, specifically the writings of Jorge Luis Borges and Julio Cortazar, plays a strong part in her paintings. Both lived outside Argentina for a long time. The words of Borges are an important part of her works, often inspired on his labyrinths.

Invoking the words of Borges, and applying them to her paintings, "He who moves away from his home has already returned," is easily a major theme in this artist’s works.

The artist moved from her homeland to Florida in 1995, where she has a studio. She has been busy at work not only preparing international exhibitions, which have traveled throughout the united States, Latin America and Europe, but also as a lecturer in the arts.
